Who it is for

Traders who are present for London but describe the first hour as 'messy' and want a repeatable way to read it without inventing a setup.

What you leave with

A short written method for the first hour of one market: what you mark at 08:00, what you wait to see close, and what you refuse to name until 09:30.

Scope

London cash open for one agreed market. We do not cover the New York open in this clinic, and we do not extend into lunch.

Included

  • Pre-open note on where the prior session left the range
  • Live or recently closed first-hour sheet marked together
  • One-page reminder of the first-hour marks to keep beside your own chart

Not included

  • A full morning through to lunch
  • New York overlap
  • Weekend gap theory except where it affects Monday's 08:00 print

How the sitting runs

  1. We meet 20 minutes before 08:00.
  2. You state where you think the open 'should' be; we write it down and then ignore it until after the first close.
  3. Each 15-minute close is marked. At 09:30 we stop, even if the chart still looks unfinished.

Preparation

Bring the previous five London first hours, unmarked. Know whether your broker's 08:00 bar is cash or futures so we are not arguing about one print.

Limits

Starts on London time. If you join from another clock, you still follow London. Group of four so the first hour is not a lecture.

Taught by

Rhys Cadogan, in the Cross Inn room or on a live video seat that follows the same paper method.

Next step

Request a clinic date that falls on an ordinary weekday, not a UK bank holiday.
